The Interstate 287/Cross-Westchester Expressway (CWE) Stage 2 & Stage 3 Reconstruction contracts involved the extensive rehabilitation of the I-287/CWE between exits 2 and 8, a distance of approximately 6km.

Boswell was involved in the $250 Million roadway reconstruction, which was essential to ensure the safety and efficient vehicular movement along the CWE, a vital transportation artery carrying more than 140,000 vehicles daily. Both Stage 2 & Stage 3 required complex traffic management plans, staged construction, installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal systems, night operations, monitoring of environmental protective measures, and community outreach programs.

Boswell’s role in the project was to provide construction inspection for various operations to ensure that NYS DOT standards were met by the Contractor throughout the length of the project.  The Resident Engineer was also responsible for assisting the EIC with progress meetings, creating payment estimates, and running the project’s day-to-day operations including safety and scheduling.
