This conversion along a 1.25-mile section of Main Street and State Street in Hackensack is a major contributory component for the overall revitalization of downtown.

The project involved extensive roadway reconstruction, intersection improvements, and streetscape amenities. Additionally, eleven traffic signalization systems were replaced with new state-of-the-art traffic-responsive equipment. That equipment is fully actuated as part of an integrated, adaptive, interactive signal system with traffic cameras to directionally monitor traffic flow and allow for bus pre-emption activation.

Boswell was responsible for performing the survey, designing all the traffic signals, the cost estimate, and the construction inspection. The firm also prepared the signing and pavement marking plans, the construction staging plans, and the specs for this project.
