The Patroon Island Bridge project consisted of the rehabilitation and dock replacement of the 1,797-foot, six-lane bridge and the eight ramps at the bridge’s western end that comprise the Interstate 90 / Interstate 787 Interchange.

This essential structure carries an average of 70,000 daily vehicles over the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer Counties, with 84,000 vehicles using the I-90 and I-787 Interchange every day. The project was part of the NYSDOT’s Accelerated Bridge Construction Program, requiring the contractor to mitigate the disturbance of traffic during construction.

Boswell was the prime consultant on the project and was an ACEC Nationwide Recognition Award Winner and received an ACECNJ Honor Award for Large Projects.
